This is what the lake looked like just a bit after sunrise this morning. This is smoke which is coming from fires in Northwestern Ontario, around Kenora and also from “The Beast” fire in Fort MacMurray, Alberta. This fire has been burning for 5 days, has burned 156,000 hectares and is expected to double in size today and it has destroyed thousands of homes. So when we see smoke it does give us cause for concern. We expect that we will be in a Restricted Fire Zone today, this means no burning of any kind will be allowed.
Yesterday was another hot day, we reached 29C but then a cold front came through with a little bit of rain and cooled things down. It was 2C this morning.
Don’s still at Mount Lake for today. Travis arrived last night and he’ll be working for us for few months. There’s plenty of work left to be done.
