Photo of the Day

Friday August 10, 2018

It has been a while since I last posted a photo but it seems like the morning just gets away on me.

This photo was taken yesterday late afternoon after a fire had been detected south of Manion Lake, the smoke was quite visible. It didn’t take long for the MNRF Forest Fire and Aviation crews to descend on the fire and begin the process of putting it out. These two water bombers were the first attackers. They worked for 2 hours scooping up water on Manion Lake and then dropping on the fire. As of this morning it is still not under control, however we can’t see any smoke so I’m sure they have ground crews that are working on it.
The bush is very, very dry. We haven’t had any significant rainfall so if you’re out in the bush be extremely careful, it’s heating up this weekend.

Today’s forecast – Mainly sunny. High 31. Humidex 37. UV index 8 or very high.
Tonight A few clouds. Low 18.
