Today is Canada Day. Today is a day of reflection instead of celebration. Today we will take time to reflect on the tragedies of Indigenous people. Indian Residential Schools, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, lack of clean water, lack of proper housing. We will continue to educate ourselves and others to make sure this never happens again, to make things better.
This photo is a painting by an artist Ron Peters from Seine River First Nation that I have hanging in our living room.
Most of western Canada is in a heat wave and it's heading our way. Our temperatures are expected to reach the high 30C by this weekend. We are also in a Restricted Fire Zone - everything is very dry, lake levels are low.
Today's forecast - Mainly sunny. High 28. Humidex 30.
